Whole Body Hyperthermia

Brief description of Whole Body Hyperthermia (WBH)

Systemic Whole Body Hyperthermia treatment is a method of fever therapy. The entire body is warmed up. The goal is a natural activation of the immune system.

How does the WBH treatment work?

An increase in core body temperature leads to proteins (cytokines) production, which plays an essential role in the immune system. The production begins shortly after applying hyperthermia treatment and normalizes only after 48 hours.

One of these proteins is interferon-gamma. It has immune-stimulating and antitumor properties.

In addition to interferon-gamma, the production of interleukin-2 is increased. It is responsible for the growth and production of many different immune cells. For example, interleukin-2 activates the natural killer cells that can recognize and kill tumour cells.

Against which types of cancer can it be used?

Since immune boosting is desirable in any cancer treatment, systemic whole-body hyperthermia can be used for any cancer.
