Apigenin Infusion in the Treatment of Liver Cancer

Liver cancer begins when the cells in the liver grow out of control. It is one of the deadliest kinds of cancer in the United States. It is also regarded as among the fastest-growing cancers.

The development of these cancer cells may begin in the liver. These are known as primary liver cancers. Sometimes they spread from other parts of the body (secondary). It can also develop from the bile duct.

There are several treatment options for treating cancers in the liver. However, some alternative cancer treatments have proven very effective. Apigenin infusion is one of them. Combined with other treatment forms, it forms integrative cancer therapy

We offer Apigenin infusion in our German Integrative Cancer Center for the treatment of cancers affecting the liver. Aside from the liver, it is helpful in cancers affecting the breast, pancreas, prostate, etc. It can also be used for leukaemia.

Liver Cancer – Symptoms and Risk Factors

Cancer in the liver leads to the destruction of healthy liver cells. It also causes an interruption in the normal functions of the liver. Some of these functions include:

  • Eliminating waste from the body
  • Repairing damaged tissues and wound healing
  • Absorption of nutrients
  • Production of bile which helps in the digestion of fat
  • Breakdown of toxic substances in the body, including alcohol and drugs.

Remember that there are two types of cancer affecting the liver. Primary and secondary. Examples of primary cancers in the liver include:

  1. Hepatoma (which is the most common)
  2. Cancer of the bile duct
  3. Hepatoblastoma, which is common in kids¹, and
  4. Cancer in the liver’s blood vessels (angiosarcoma)

Symptoms

Most people have no symptoms in the early stages of cancer. But when the symptoms start to show up, they may include:

  • Pains, tenderness, and discomfort in the abdomen
  • Yellowness in the eyes and skin
  • Dark urine
  • Chalky and Pale stool
  • Nauseousness
  • Little to no appetite
  • Extreme tiredness, etc.

Risk factors

Risk factors for liver cancer include:

  • Ageing
  • Lifestyle choices, like smoking or excessive alcohol, or hard substance consumption
  • Race
  • Steroid use
  • History of severe liver diseases like Hepatitis B and C.

How Apigenin Helps In Treating Cancer of the Liver

Prevents cancer from spreading

Apigenin is a potent substance for treating cancers. It helps to slow down the growth of cancer cells.² When it does that, it prevents cancer from spreading. Apigenin infusion can do this and prevents the cells from forming a colony.³

Cancer cells in the liver can form colonies. The more colonies they form, the more they grow. But Apigenin prevents the formation of these colonies.³ So it stops the cells from growing, reducing their ability to spread.²

Alters the cancer cell’s cycle

Apigenin can disrupt the cell cycle progression of cancer cells in the liver. It is so strong that it can either slow down the rate of progression or stop it entirely. When this happens, the cells die, and the cancer cells reduce.²

Increases the Sensitivity of  Cancer Cells to Cancer treatments

This is one of the most effective ways Apigenin infusion is used for cancer treatments. Apigenin increases the sensitivity of cancer cells to cancer treatments.⁴ It achieves this by distorting the nature of cancer cells’ mitochondria which is the energy-producing part of every cell.

According to research⁴, Apigenin weakened the cell’s outer layers of the mitochondria. The action on the mitochondria can make the penetration of other cancer treatments easy. The action can also stimulate the pathway responsible for cell death.

Summary

Apigenin is great against cancer cells in the liver. It also stops the spread of cancer cells and alters the cell cycle progression. It also increases the sensitivity of the cells to other cancer treatments.

This makes Apigenin infusion an essential part of integrative cancer therapy to treat liver cancer.

We offer Apigenin in our German integrative cancer centre to treat cancer of the liver.
